Europe closes lower as UK considers budget delay

Major European stock markets closed with losses on Friday following the news that the British government might delay the next budget announcement until next year. The day was also marked by economic data reports. Eurostat estimated the Eurozone's May trade surplus at €7.5 billion, and the inflation rate at 1.9%.

The DAX fell 0.57% at the closing bell, with Infineon Tech sinking 2.80%. The CAC 40 lost 0.51%. ArcelorMittal SA declined 3.77% to lead the table. The FTSE 100 slipped 0.05%, as Burberry Group plc plunged 4.83%. The euro traded flat against the dollar at 1.18093, while the pound lost 0.34% to $1.37816 at 5:33 pm CET.
