British Airways orders 50 Boeing 737 Max planes

International Airlines Group S.A., the owner of carrier British Airways, announced on Thursday it has reached an agreement with Boeing Co. on the delivery of 50 new 737 Max planes starting from next year and through 2027.

The jets are priced at around $6.25 billion in total, however, IAG noted it has negotiated a significant discount, with the option to purchase an additional 100 jets in the future.

Commenting on the deal, IAG Chief Executive Luis Gallego said that "the addition of new Boeing 737s is an important part of IAG's short-haul fleet renewal."
