United Kingdom's flag carrier British Airways announced it was canceling another 10,300 short-haul flights this summer until the end of October due to staff shortages and possible new airport strikes, the Times reported on Wednesday.

New cancellations will affect London Heathrow, Gatwick and City airports. Yesterday, the company announced it will cancel 1,000 summer flights from Heathrow and Gatwick.

To address the issue, British Airways' chief executive Sean Doyle said today the airline has appointed Rene de Groot as the new chief operating officer, hoping his expertise will help tackle the ongoing problems.
