Siemens: Nord Stream leak should not have halted supply

Friday, 02. September 2022 21:59

Siemens Energy AG stated on Friday that the alleged oil leak on the Nord Stream pipeline, that led Gazprom to shut down the operation of the turbine is no reason to halt its operation, as similar incidents "normally do not affect the operation of a turbine and can be sealed on site."

"It is a routine procedure within the scope of maintenance work," the company said in a statement. Siemens Energy stated that regardless of the issue, there are enough additional turbines present at the Portovaya Compression Station for Nord Stream 1 to function.

Previously, the Russian energy giant halted operations after two parties detected an oil leak at the Portovaya Compression Station located on the Russian coast of the Baltic Sea.
