Toshiba Corp. is planning to designate the company's Chairman and CEO Nobuaki Kurumatani as president, Nikkei Asian Review reported.

By appointing Kurumatani, the Japanese technology heavyweight is hoping to accelerate its implementation of a digital-oriented growth plan, the report revealed, as the company has already instigated a business plan that combines its pillar operations with digital technologies under Kurumatani's management.

President and Chief Operating Officer Satoshi Tsunakawa is set to remain the public face of the company, assuming the post of chairman without representative rights. The move is set to take place in April this year following the approval by the nominating committee.
