July 19 will be 'terminus date' - Johnson

United Kingdom Prime Minister Boris Johnson asserted on Friday that the new July 19 reopening deadline will be a "terminus date" when coronavirus measures will be lifted.

Johnson stated that he is "very confident" that the country will reopen by mid-July, saying that his line of thinking continues to be supported by the data. Additionally, he touted the vaccination rollout saying that right now around 80% of adult Britons have received at least one jab, and he urged those over-18 to book their appointments to get the vaccine, which they are able to do since this morning.

Earlier, it was reported by Public Health England that the uptick in cases and transmission has been fueled by the Delta coronavirus variant, which accounts for 99% of cases in the country.
