Major European stock markets ended Wednesday's session mixed as the news surrounding AstraZeneca's COVID-19 vaccine stood in investors' focus.

The European Medicines Agency found a possible link between AstraZeneca's jab and cases of blood clots, but continued to give its support to the vaccine's distribution and use. In the United Kingdom, the Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency revealed adults under 30 would be offered an alternative vaccine instead of AstraZeneca's due to the possible adverse effects.

The DAX lost 0.24% at the closing bell, with Volkswagen declining 2.45%. The CAC 40 traded flat. On the other hand, the FTSE 100 rose 0.91%, as Just Eat Takeaway surged 5.10%. The euro gained 0.14% against the dollar to sell for 1.18921 at 5:37 pm CET, while the pound decreased by 0.50% to $1.37553.
