United States President Joe Biden revealed on Friday that Washington and Japan will cooperate "on a range of fields," singling out 5G, supply chains, chips and AI technology.

Both countries will "invest in and protect technology" to "sharpen the competitive edge," Biden added at a press conference alongside Japan's Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga.

The US and Japan will also take "aggressive action on climate change," and will remain committed to achieving net-zero emission by 2050 and meet the prerequisite climate-related goals by 2030, the American president also specified.
