Elysee: Macron, Putin to hold talks 'soon'

Saturday, 17. April 2021 18:43

The Elysee Palace announced on Saturday French President Emmanuel Macron and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin would soon hold a form of meeting.

The comments come after Macron's meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, during which he stressed "France's adherence to preserving Ukraine's sovereignty and also of that crucial importance that Paris attaches to forging bilateral ties in all the areas."

France and the rest of the Group of Seven (G7) recently warned Moscow to "cease its provocations" and "immediately de-escalate tensions" concerning its activities and the number of troops at the border with Ukraine and in "illegally-annexed" Crimea.
