Europe opens higher with data in focus

Shares on major European stock markets traded higher on Tuesday, as investors started to digest the latest batch of economic data reports. The United Kingdom reported its unemployment rate decreased in April, while Germany unveiled its consumer prices rose in May, both were in line with analysts' expectations. Meanwhile, the European Union will report its trade balance later in the day and traders will be looking at how the summit between the EU and the United States will unfold.

The DAX opened 0.48% in the green, with Linde plc rising 1.24%. The FTSE 100 increased 0.31% at the opening bell, as Associated British Foods plc traded 1.66% higher. The CAC 40 was 0.39% up, while STMicroelectronics gained 1.07%.

The euro gained 0.14% against the dollar trading for $1.21379 at 9:04 am CET, while the pound stood flat against the greenback selling for $1.41134 a minute later.
