Europe opens higher with economic recovery in focus

Major stock markets in Europe opened higher on Friday, as investors looked towards the upcoming data reports to give an indication of global economic recovery. Later in the day, European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde will give her remarks on the state of the economy and the producer price index in the Eurozone will be unveiled, while across the Atlantic key United States jobs numbers are slated to be published.

The DAX opened 0.37% in the green, led by Covestro AG rising 1.01%. The FTSE 100 was 0.19% higher at the open, as Barratt Developments plc rose 1.78%. The CAC 40 increased 0.29%, with Michelin SA gaining 0.60%.

The euro lost 0.13% against the dollar trading for $1.18310 at 9:02 am CET, while the pound also declined by 0.06% against the American currency changing hands for $1.37489 a minute later.
