Europe closes lower after disappointing data

Major stock markets in Europe closed lower on Tuesday after the Centre for European Economic Research (ZEW) projected the economic sentiment in both Germany and the Eurozone will decline in July. Meanwhile, the United States Services Purchasing Managers' Index (PMI) observed a monthly drop in June, causing the Dow Jones Industrial Average to decrease by more than 250 points.

The DAX closed 1.04% or 163 points lower as Deutsche Bank AG sank by 4.13%. The FTSE 100 went down by 0.98%, with Antofagasta PLC falling by 4.66%. The CAC 40 tumbled by 1.11% as Alstom SA plunged by 8.45%.

The euro lost 0.31% to the dollar to sell for $1.18256 at 5:27 pm CET. At the same time, the pound sterling declined by 0.37% against the greenback, changing hands for $1.37913.
