Europe closes mostly flat following recovery plans

Major stock markets in Europe ended their trading session on Tuesday lower, as investors weren't as hopeful regarding the European Union's economic recovery despite new plans being approved by the European Council. Meanwhile, the European Central Bank talked about its new inflation target, with some officials commenting on the proposed plans.

On the pandemic front, Germany's Angela Merkel said it has a long way to go when it comes to vaccines, while Ursula Von der Leyen praised the overall vaccination effort.

The DAX and the FTSE 100 finished flat. The CAC 40 ended the session 0.20% down, with Alstom SA declining 4.23%. The euro dropped 0.39% against the dollar trading for $1.18140 at 5:32 pm ET, while the pound lost 0.33% against the American currency changing hands for $1.38406 a minute later.
