Europe closes mostly lower as crisis sentiment persists

Major European stock markets closed mostly lower on Monday as the aftermath of the COVID-19 crisis influences investors. Germany's Business Climate Index fell in July by 0.9 points to 100.8, according to the Ifo. Meanwhile, Gertjan Vlieghe, an external member of the Bank of England's Committee said that Britain's economy is "not out of the woods" of the pandemic yet and it is premature to withdraw supportive programs.

The DAX closed with 0.32% below the flatline led by Vonovia dropping by 2.46%. The FTSE 100 slid by 0.03% as Unilever lost 2.73%, while the CAC 40 gained 0.15% with ArcelorMittal rising by 4.38%.

The euro advanced by 0.33% against the dollar trading for $1.18102 at 5:27 CET, while at the same time the British pound grew by 0.53% selling for $1.38226.
