Europe closes higher on trade data, earnings

Europe's major equities closed higher on Friday after Eurostat data showed a €4.8 billion trade surplus for the Eurozone in August and Volkswagen Group reported annual electric vehicle sales doubling in the third quarter with strong growth in demand from China.

The DAX gained 0.81% as RWE AG added 4.49%. The FTSE 100 finished 0.34% in the green led by Ocado Group growing 3.87%, while the CAC 40 advanced 0.63% with Renault SA increasing by 3.29%.

The euro was flat against the dollar, selling for $1.16006 at 5:28 pm CET, while the pound sterling rose by 0.64% against the greenback to go for $1.137600.
