Europe opens higher amid earnings season

Major European stock markets kicked off Tuesday's session in the positive territory as companies continued posting their third-quarter earnings results. The premarket session brought results from investment banking company UBS Group and pharma corp. Novartis International.

On the coronavirus front, the European Medicines Agency yesterday approved the use of COVID-19 booster shots developed by Moderna Inc. for people older than 18.

The DAX gained 0.42% at the opening bell. The FTSE 100 rose 0.19%, with Reckitt Benckiser Group plc jumping 4.55%. The CAC 40 advanced 0.17%. Both the euro and the pound stood flat against the dollar at 8:52 am CET to sell for 1.16022 and 1.37698, respectively.
