Europe closes lower as Ukraine talks resume

Equities in Europe traded with losses on Tuesday's closing bell as the Ukraine peace negotiations continue. Earlier in the day, Russian President Vladimir Putin declared that Moscow's operation in Ukraine will continue until it achieves its initial goals regardless of how the talks end.

On the economic front, the January monthly growth of producer prices in the Eurozone reached 5.2%, while the seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate in the euro area for the same month was registered to be 6.8%.

The DAX traded 2.16% lower at the close, with RWE AG decreasing 8.60%, while the FTSE 100 declined by 2.57%, dragged down by Polymetal International PLC's 36.75% plunge. Meanwhile, the CAC 40 dropped by 1.83%, with its worst performer, Publicis Groupe SA, falling 6.70%.

The euro weakened 0.71% against the dollar to sell for $1.10488 at 5:30 pm CET. The pound sterling also dropped 0.46% to the greenback to go for $1.33405.
