China extends waiting time for iPhone 14 Pro, Max - report

The Chinese market will have to wait longer than initially expected for the popular iPhone 14 models, Pro and Pro Max, by up to two weeks, South China Morning Post reported on Monday. Products will be available after Christmas, with the latest date set for the beginning of next year. The report stated that people across China expressed their disappointment on social media about the delay, hoping availability would be sooner.

Delays are due to masses of iPhone assembly line workers leaving the manufacturing complex Foxconn in Zhengzhou during the COVID-19 pandemic. Now operating with a significantly lower workforce, Foxconn is enticing new recruits with bonuses and higher salaries. This might be good news for the delivery of future iPhone models, but it won't change the current wait time for its dissatisfied customers.

China's COVID-19 cases increased by 27,095 on Monday, with authorities announcing a five-day lockdown in the multi-million hub of Guangzhou. Apple shares lost 2% following the news.
