Russian Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) fined Apple Inc. over 1.2 billion roubles (around $17.4 million) on Tuesday for "abusing its dominant position" in the market.

According to the FAS statement released on its Telegram channel, Apple was found guilty of imposing mandatory use of the company's payment tool on Russian developers of iOS applications, thus violating anti-trust laws. In particular, App Store prohibited the developers from informing customers about using alternative payment methods outside the app.

The tech giant is required to pay the fine within two months of the decision coming into force.
