Nasdaq plunges over 2% at open amid data, earnings |

Major US stock markets opened lower on Friday following the release of US employment data and yesterday's release of financial statements from high-profile companies. Market participants are weighing the earning reports from Apple and Google-parent Alphabet after both missed estimates on the top and bottom lines for the last quarter of 2022. Moreover, before the opening bell, the Bureau of Labor Statistics unveiled that nonfarm employment in the United States increased by 517,000 in January while the unemployment rate fell by 0.1% to come in at 3.4%. The Dow Jones lost 0.34% at 9:31 am ET, with Salesforce sinking 2.25%. The Nasdaq 100 fell by 2.15%, Atlassian Copr decreased by 11.16%. A minute later, the S&P 500 declined 1.03%, as Ford Motor dropped by 10.16%. The euro was down by 0.59% against the dollar at 9:27 am ET, selling for $1.08497. |
