Danish shipping company Maersk plans to expand its logistics operations on land in order to attract more customers, Maersk chief executive Soren Skou said.

Skou told the Financial Times that in the next couple of years, the shipping giant will work on expanding its supply chain management, warehouses, truck fleet and other parts of the business not related to maritime transport.

"The future will be very much about scaling the land side of the equation" and acquiring logistics space, Skou said and added that the ultimate goal is to enable their customers to "buy everything they need for their global supply chain from Maersk."
