Troubled Danish lender Danske Bank has appointed Chris Vogelzang as its new CEO, it said in a press release on Friday.

Vogelzang, who is Dutch, was with ABN AMRO Bank N.V. from 2000 to 2017, where he held various positions. His last eight years at the Dutch bank were spent as a member of its management board and head of its global retail and private banking activities. Vogelzang will assume his new role on June 1, until which time interim CEO Jesper Nielsen will continue in his current position.

The appointment comes after Danske's ex-CEO Thomas Borgen was charged on Wednesday for his suspected involvement in the bank's money laundering scandal. Borgen previously stepped down after an investigation showed some €200 billion of suspicious transactions passed through Danske's Estonian branch.
