US to send 500M vaccine doses to 92 countries from August

Starting from August, the United States will ship 500 million Pfizer Inc.-BioNTech SE coronavirus vaccines to "92 low- and lower middle-income countries and economies as defined by Gavi's COVAX Advance Market Commitment (AMC) and the African Union," the White House confirmed on Thursday.

A total of 200 million doses will be delivered by the end of 2021, while the remainder will be shipped in the first six months of next year. All of the 500 million doses will be produced at Pfizer sites in the US.

President Joe Biden is expected to make an official announcement later in the day.
