The European Central Bank's Governing Council announced on Friday that they are extending the exclusion of some central bank exposures from the leverage ratio by European banks.

The central bank stated that it believes "exceptional circumstances" still exist, which allows for the extension of the relief to happen. Furthermore, the move is seen as part of the support towards the transmission of ECB's monetary policy and that that it precludes to the euro area as a whole.
