Europe closes higher after upbeat data

Major stock markets in Europe closed higher on Tuesday after the reports on the Eurozone's gross domestic product (GDP) and economic sentiment, as well as on Germany's industrial production, all observed expansions in those sectors. Meanwhile, Spain approved the use of Pfizer Inc. and BioNTech SE's vaccine against COVID-19 in children between the ages of 5 and 11. The United Kingdom's government reaffirmed it is not considering tightening the restrictions aimed at preventing the spread of coronavirus.

The DAX closed 2.87% or 441 points higher as Volkswagen AG surged by 8.63%. The FTSE 100 advanced by 1.55%, with Anglo American PLC going up by 5.90%. The CAC 40 increased by 2.86% as STMicroelectronics NV rose by 5.71%.

The euro lost 0.35% to the dollar to sell for $1.12438 at 5:27 pm CET. At the same time, the pound sterling went down by 0.24% against the greenback to go for $1.32242.
