Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan's spokesman Ibrahim Kalin warned on Tuesday that a new military operation could be launched in Syria "any time."

"As a responsible state, we of course evaluate and talk to our allies and neighboring countries about such operations," the spokesperson noted, adding that Turkey informed the US, Russia, and Iran of the attack carried out in northern Syria following the explosion on the pedestrian street of Istanbul, Istiklal Avenue.

"Turkey does not take permission from anyone to address its own security concerns and does not hold accountable to anyone," the president's spokesman said, stressing that Ankara never targeted Russian or American forces in Syria. The spokesman noted that talks have been held with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on the "intelligence" level, adding that there must be a "ground" for the leaders to meet in the future.
