Major stock markets across Europe kicked off the last trading day of the week with slight gains as investors prepared for next week's policy decisions from the Federal Reserve, the European Central Bank and the Bank of England.

Commenting on the economic situation across the Eurozone, Bank of France Governor Francois Villeroy de Galhau warned during the morning the bloc could face a temporary recession in the coming quarters. On the other hand, China's decision to relax COVID-19 restrictions continued to push positive sentiment worldwide.

Frankfurt's DAX rose 0.40% at the opening bell, while London's FTSE 100 gained 0.35% and the CAC 40 in Paris increased 0.32%. The Euro Stoxx 50 climbed by 0.29% at the same time. The euro and the pound made slight gains against the greenback at 8:54 am CET to sell for 1.05676 and 1.22570, respectively.
