Wall Street closes mixed, oil mixed too

Major U.S. indexes ended mixed on Tuesday with the Dow Jones and the S&P 500 down, and the Nasdaq 100 slightly up.

The Dow Jones lost 0.92% to 17,568 points with 26 out of 30 stocks listed on the index ending up with losses. The S&P 500 fell 0.65% to 2,063 points with the worst performing stock being Southwest Airlines Company that plunged 9.06%.

The Nasdaq 100 edged up 0.02% to 4,694 points. The best performing stock was Alexion Pharmaceuticals that jumped 5.34%. Major tech companies ended with mixed results. Alphabet Class C shares finished 0.12% lower, Apple and Microsoft both lost 0.04%, while Facebook and Amazon rose 0.83% and 1.12% respectively.

Oil traded mixed. While Brent crude dropped 1.34% to $40.55 a barrel (10:12 p.m. CET), WTI gained 0.08% to $37.61 a barrel (10:09 p.m. CET).
