Asian markets mixed amid pandemic fight

Major stock market indexes in Asia traded mixed on Thursday, as investors continue to digest the latest pandemic news. The Bank of Japan stayed cautious on the impact of the pandemic on the economy in their latest meeting, while South Korea stressed the need for equitable vaccine access during the G7 meeting. Meanwhile, traders will also be looking at the impact of China suspending the China-Australia Strategic Economic Dialogue

The Nikkei 225 traded 1.71% higher at 7:29 am CET, while the Hang Seng added 0.41% a minute later. The S&P/ASX 200 dropped 0.65% at 7:30 am CET, with the Kospi Composite increasing by 0.66% concurrently.

In mainland China, the Shanghai Composite was down 0.07% at 7:17 am CET, while the Shenzhen Composite declined 1.69% at 7:31 am CET.

The dollar increased 0.11% against the yen, trading for ¥109.3205 at 7:33 am CET.
