McDonald's stated on Tuesday that it will be temporarily shutting down all of its 850 restaurants on the territory of Russia, due to the current crisis in Ukraine.

McDonald's CEO Chris Kempczinski stated in a letter that the company will halt its endeavors, but will continue to pay employees in Russia. The revenue generated from McDonald's restaurants in Russia and Ukraine amounts to 9% of the company's total revenue.

The decision comes after many industry giants, such as Ferrari, Netflix, Puma etc. decided to stop their activities in Russia.
