Europe in green following economic data

Major stock markets in Europe opened the first session of the week in the green territory as investors are receiving a new batch of economic reports from the UK and ahead of the key data on US inflation to be published tomorrow.

Earlier, the UK's Office for National Statistics said the gross domestic product (GDP) was flat in the three months to July, while total goods imports declined by £0.5 billion (0.9%), and industrial production went down by 0.3% in July versus the previous month.

The DAX gained 0.54% at 9:01 am CET, with Volkswagen VZO up by 1.73%. The CAC 40 added 0.44%, while ArcelorMittal improved by 2.05 %, and the FTSE 100 rose 0.35%, as Rolls-Royce Holdings edged up by 1,67%. The euro and the pound were up by 0.96% and 0.57% against the dollar at 8:59 am CET, selling for $1.01444 and $1.16535, respectively.
