Starbucks cancels vaccine mandate after SCOTUS ruling

Starbucks decided to stop requiring its workers to be vaccinated against COVID-19 after the United States Supreme Court (SCOTUS) blocked President Joe Biden's vaccine mandate for large businesses, the Associated Press reported on Wednesday citing a company memo.

"We respect the court’s ruling and will comply," Starbucks COO John Culver wrote in a memo to employees but stressed Starbucks continues to encourage inoculation.

Earlier this month, the coffee shop chain informed its employees in the US that they will have to get their jabs by January 10 or undergo weekly testing for coronavirus. After abandoning the vaccine mandate, Starbucks noted that a "vast majority" of its US workforce is already fully vaccinated.
