Europe opens higher as crisis in Ukraine continues

Major stock markets in Europe opened higher on Thursday, with investors still keeping an eye on the Ukraine crisis. According to the United Nations around one million refugees fled Ukraine, while 227 civilians were killed so far.

On the earnings front, Lufthansa reported gains in its fourth quarter. In data, German, European Union, and the United Kingdom's manufacturing and services Purchasing Managers Indexes (PMI) will be released later today.

The DAX was up 0.14% at 9:05 am CET with Adidas AG gaining 0.97% at 9:08 am CET. London's FTSE 100 grew 0.15% at 9:05 am CET as Prudential PLC increased 1.33% at 9:02 am CET. The CAC 40 advanced 0.31% at 9:05 am CET as ArcelorMittal SA went up 2.82% at 9:01 CET.

The euro was down 0.26% against the dollar to sell for $1.10989 at 8:58 am CET. The British pound stood flat compared to the greenback, going for $1.33935 at 8:59 am CET.
