Europe markets higher at open ahead of Fed decision

Major European stock market indexes opened higher on Tuesday, with global traders focusing on the US Federal Reserve's monetary policy meeting, which begins today. The central bank is expected to hike interest rates by 75 basis points.

On the data front, before the opening, it was known that house prices in the United Kingdom increased by 7.2% year-on-year in October, according to the Nationwide House Price Index report. Besides, British oil and gas company BP plc said its net profit was $8.2 billion in its third quarter of the 2022 fiscal year.

The DAX gained 0.60% at 9:01 am CET, with Fresenius Medical Care up by 6.55%. The CAC 40 added 1.03%, while TotalEnergies SE improved by 2.12%. A minute later, the FTSE 100 rose 1.80%, as Prudential edged up by 4.37%.

The euro was up by 0.50% against the dollar at 8:58 am CET, selling for $0.99321. In comparison, the pound advanced 0.40% to go for $1.15166 at the same time.
