Major stock market indexes in Europe closed mostly lower on Monday following the newest economic reports released during the day. The services and manufacturing sectors in the Eurozone and Germany remained in contraction. In the United Kingdom, the figure stayed unchanged. The euro area also saw a monthly decline in retail sales. The DAX went down by 0.41% at the close as Bayer AG dropped by 3.19%. The CAC 40 fell by 0.54%, with Bouygues S.A. dipping by 3.01%. On the other hand, the FTSE 100 rose by 0.26% as Prudential PLC surged by 5.77%. The euro lost 0.18% to the dollar at 5:28 pm CET to sell for $1.05142. A minute later, the pound sterling decreased by 0.75% against the greenback to change hands for $1.21906. |
