Major indexes in Europe ended Tuesday's session with strong gains as investors digested the latest inflation report from Germany, which showed consumer prices in Europe's largest economy grew less than expected in December.

The EuroStoxx 50 climbed 0.82% with Prosus, up 4.14%, as the best performer.

The DAX rose 0.80%. Brenntag led the gains, surging 4.81%.

The FTSE 100 jumped 1.37% as Rolls-Royce soared 6.13%.

The CAC 40 closed 0.44% in the green. The top performer was Vivendi, up 2.78%.

The euro tumbled 1.11% against the dollar to sell for 1.05473 at 5:38 pm CET and the pound lost 0.64% compared to the greenback to go for 1.19693 at the same time.
