Deutsche Lufthansa AG chief executive officer Carsten Spohr said on Monday the airline will operate a hundred aircraft fewer in the next three years, adding that additional planes will be bought once the company can afford them.

The airline, which previously reported a net loss of €2.12 billion due to the coronavirus pandemic, is awaiting shareholder approval for German state aid which it direly needs.

Its subsidiary, Austrian Airlines, reached an agreement with the government in Vienna earlier today to receive €600 million in assistance. Out of the sum, Lufthansa is supposed to provide €150 million.
