Putin to speak at US-hosted climate summit

Russian President Vladimir Putin will speak at the virtual climate summit organized by the United States, the Kremlin stated on Monday. 40 world leaders have been invited to the summit, which will take place on April 22-23.

"Vladimir Putin will outline Russia's approaches in the context of establishing broad international cooperation aimed at overcoming the negative consequences of global climate change," the Kremlin said in a statement, adding his address is scheduled for the first day of the event. Meanwhile, the Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry called on the greatest contributors to climate change to "lead the way" in tackling the issue.
