Dombrovskis hopes EU, US will end Airbus-Boeing spat by July

European Commissioner for Trade Valdis Dombrovskis told Financial Times on Sunday that the European Union and the United States have been working "very intensively" in an effort to end the 16-year dispute over Airbus and Boeing subsidies.

"The work is ongoing and I think there are reasons to expect we will be able to resolve this issue, and that we will not have to return to this mutual imposition of tariffs," Dombrovskis noted and added that the EU noticed a "very welcome shift" in Washington's stance after Joe Biden assumed office in January. The EU official stressed the two sides hope to reach an agreement by July.

In March, the EU and the US agreed to suspend tariffs over the subsidies for four months during which they would attempt to find a solution on future subsidies for the aircraft sector.
