Europe opens in green amid earnings, data

Major stock indexes in Europe started Tuesday's trading session higher with investors waiting for today's batch of economic data and corporate earnings. The United Kingdom's Office for National Statistics reported that the country's unemployment rate fell 0.3% compared to the previous quarter.

The FTSE 100 gained 0.24% at the opening bell in London. IAG SA was the best performer, increasing 2.70%. In Germany, the DAX advanced 0.77%, with Volkswagen AG jumping 2.12%. The French CAC 40 rose 0.62% as Engie SA rose 3.37%.

The euro and the pound grew 0.27% and 0.40% at 8:59 am CET, changing hands for $1.21850 and $1.41869 respectively.
