Europe opens lower ahead of Eurozone GDP update

Major stock market indexes in Europe opened lower on Wednesday ahead of the newest update on the euro area's gross domestic product (GDP). Earlier, the United Kingdom reported an annual rise in house prices, and Germany a monthly decrease in industrial production.

The DAX opened 0.78% or 100 points lower as Henkel AG declined by 1.63%. The FTSE 100 went down by 0.83%., with Coca-Cola HBC AG dwindling by 3.51%. The CAC 40 dropped by 0.81% as ArcelorMittal SA fell by 2.07%.

The euro stood flat against the dollar at 8:58 am CET to sell for $0.99087. At the same time, the pound sterling lost 0.23% to the greenback to change hands for $1.14936.
