Airbus SE and French automaker Renault Group signed the deal on electric battery research and collaboration on Wednesday, revealing that the partnership will concentrate on the development of electric batteries for cars and airplanes.

"Airbus' and Renault Group's engineering teams will join forces to mature technologies related to energy storage, which remains one of the main roadblocks for the development of long-range electric vehicles," the statement unveiled.

"For the first time, two European leaders from different industries are sharing engineering knowledge to shape the future of hybrid-electric aircraft," the French carmaker giant's Engineering EVP Gilles Le Borgne commented. The collaboration between the two companies will contribute to net-zero emissions by 2050 in both automotive and the aviation sector.
