European gas futures climb to October highs

Natural gas prices continued to rise on Wednesday, with futures reaching highs unseen in over a month, although still significantly lower since the September spikes. Earlier today, Germany announced it is pulling out of the Energy Charter Treaty, calling it "an obstacle for change."

The UK natural gas futures for delivery in January 2023 jumped 9.76% to 375.770 pence per therm at 3:13 pm CET, the highest since October 28. The Dutch TTF natural gas futures for settlements in January were up by 8.8%, going for €148.15 per megawatt hour at 3:14 pm CET, at its highest point since October 21.
