Bank of Japan (BoJ) Governor Haruhiko Kuroda asserted on Friday that the COVID-19 pandemic still has a "big negative" impact on the economy of Japan, adding that it will take more time for its effects to subside.

Speaking at a press conference after the BoJ's monetary policy meeting, Kuroda predicted that the core inflation will move around 0% in the short term.

Japan's central bank previously voted against adjusting its response to the crisis caused by the coronavirus outbreak, leaving the interest rates unaltered.
