The phone of French Economy and Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire is being investigated to determine if it has been targeted by Pegasus spyware.

"We are in an investigation phase, and that includes my own device," Le Maire said on Friday.

Earlier, reports claimed that a number of politicians, including French President Emmanuel Macron, were targeted by Israeli NSO Group's spyware after being listed as contacts of interest by the Moroccan government. However, Rabat has denied the allegations it is behind spying on French officials. Meanwhile, Macron changed his phone number and device over concerns it was affected by the spyware.
