Japanese PM warns about chip shortages

Japanese Prime Minister Fumiko Kishida said that the government in Tokyo has to be mindful of downside risks to the nation's economy posed by the global semiconductor shortages.

The short supply of silicon chips has already left manufacturers in a slow lane, with some automakers, in particular, expecting revenues to fall below expectations after shortages led to the car companies not being able to make the expected number of vehicles.
