In her speech after being officially sworn in as a Supreme Court justice, Amy Coney Barrett promised to do her job independently of both the political branches and her own preferences.

She went on to say the job of a senator is to use policy preferences when making decisions which is something a judge has to resist as giving in to them would be a dereliction of her duty.

Barrett noted she understands her own personal beliefs don't reflect those of the people and added she plans to protect the American constitution and do her job without fear.
