Wall Street ends lower amid US virus fears

Stocks in the United States ended lower on Tuesday after Boeing shares dropped over 5% following a halt in trading ahead of the firm's announcement that it does not expect to return its troubled 737 MAX to service until mid-2020. Meanwhile, health fears influenced investor sentiment as the first case of the coronavirus was reported in the US.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average, which fell over 200 points shortly before the closing bell, ended 0.51% in the red as Boeing fell 3.33%. The Nasdaq 100 declined 0.08% as Trip.com Group lost 7.91%. The S&P lost 0.26% and was led lower by Cabot Oil & Gas Corp which dropped 7.73%.

The euro was flat compared to the dollar, going for 1.10861 at 4:01 pm ET.
