Thursday, 22. October 2020 16:50

Equities on major stock markets in the United States turned to losses after opening in the green on Thursday with the Dow Jones losing more than 150 index points.

Investors mainly focused on the resurgence in coronavirus cases after the US added 62,735 COVID-19 infections and 1,124 virus-caused deaths in the past 24 hours. Meanwhile, the Democrats and Republicans are still putting in efforts to reach a deal on the country's next coronavirus stimulus bill with White House Director of Strategic Communications Alyssa Farah claiming that aid to states and local communities remained 'sticky points' in the talks.

The Dow went down by 0.24% at 10:55 am ET, while the Nasdaq 100 and the S&P 500 fell 0.82% and 0.23% concurrently. The euro declined 0.27% against the dollar, trading for 1.18280 at 10:56 am ET.
