US initial jobless claims down 16,000 to 193,000

The number of seasonally adjusted initial jobless claims in the United States declined by 16,000 to 193,000 in the week ending September 24, the Department of Labor shared in its report on Thursday. The previous week's reading was revised from 213,000 down to 209,000. The 4-week moving average fell by 8,750 from the previous week's revised average to stand at 207,000.

Meanwhile, the insured unemployment rate came in at 1%, unchanged from the previous week, as the insured unemployment number stood at 1,347,000, decreasing 29,000 from the previous week's revised figures. The 4-week moving average was 1,381,250, falling by 22,500 compared to the week prior.
